Late in 2011 Larson was commissioned to paint a portrait of the late Ted Stevens, United States Senator from Alaska who served from 1968 to 2009, the longest serving Republican Senator in history.  The portrait was unveiled in Juneau, Alaska at the state museum on February 4, 2012.  The portrait will be placed in the collection of the State Capitol building there in Juneau.  At the unveiling ceremony Catherine Stevens, wife of the late Senator, said "I hope this will be a nice remembrance for all of you for the love Ted had for the state, and for you."  Before being elected US Senator, Ted Stevens was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives and served two terms.
